Welcome New Members

This past Sunday we welcomed 5 new people into our Kihei Lutheran Church Ohana. Welcome to Troy and Ali Dauler and their children Taylor and Trevor, Oliver and Marcia Stafford, and Deidre Tegarden. All of you are a wonderful addition to this church. We also welcomed back Hula for the season. It is always great to have our musicians/dancers back from their summer break. We also have the bonus of Tom and Cheryl Rietz in costume promoting Oktoberfest. I just like picture and thought you would as well.

God’s Work Our Hand’s Pictures

There hasn’t been much going on the past couple of weeks here at KLC. We did show Pastor David and Karen some love to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The biggest thing we have done is the God’s Work Our Hands Sunday, which this year fell on the anniversary of September 11th. This year we decided that we would use the money collected from our July noisy offering as well as some other donations to split between the Kihei Police Department Relief fund and the Fire Department Relief Fund. Not only are we giving these two groups these funds but our Prayer Shawl Hui graciously donated prayer shawls to both departments so that they can give them out as they see fit, to comfort those they are able to assist. A big Mahalo to Cheif Faaumu and Officer Orikasa from the police department and the representative from the Fire Department, for coming to service to accept our donations. Mahalo for everything that you do on a daily basis.

Property Pictures

There have been many things going on here at KLC over the past couple of months. One of them being property clean-up. There have been three days this summer where people have gotten together to clean-up certain areas of the property. One day it was adding wood chips and cleaning up the playground. Another day was cleaning up behind the green fenced in area. Last but not least it was cleaning up behind the fenced in area where the collection pond is. We would like to thank everyone who has come out to help especially the Tongans who always come and lend a hand when needed.

Aloha Everyone. As all of you know it is Summer and because of that there really isn’t much going on here at KLC. I am putting up some pictures from the past 3 weekends for you to take a gander at. We had the start of VBS with more pics to come. 3 different women singing. Mahalo to Sharon McElroy, Dawn Misner & Stacie Proctor for adding your talents to the services. We also said good-bye to Sharon as her and Duke moved to the mainland. Once again please enjoy.

Pastor Barber and Karen were gone this past weekend so we had some of our members help out with the service. A big Mahalo goes out to Zel Terluin for leading us through the day, Marilyn Hopkins for delivering a message during sermon time and Vicki Nelson for handling Keiki Time. Also a thank you to Owen Pendergast for playing the trombone during “Lord of Aloha.” We also want to give a big shout out to Mikhaela Galindo as she celebrated her birthday.

Here are some pictures of some of the things that happened last Sunday. It was a lot of the regular festivities including the Keiki Time. It’s always fun to see the kids pay very close attention to pastor. We also gave the prizes to the Winners of the Peanut Butter Bake Off. They are Peggy Alexander, Evelyn Kaya, Vicki Nelson and Sue Moorcroft. Congratulations to you all. We also had a short demonstration of one of the experiments for VBS. Thank you to Jerry Kislter for doing that for everyone.

Pictures from Sunday and Saturday’s VBS Prep & Bishop’s Meeting

We are still gearing up for VBS. Here are some pictures of more of the behind the scenes prep work going. We are grateful to everyone who is able to come and help get everything ready. We know it takes a lot of work. The Bishop was also in town to meet with the Transition Team, Call Committee and Pastor Barber on Saturday. Greg and Ede Stratton are moving back to the mainland. We will surely miss than and hope that they will visit when they have the time. Landan Jaeger played the violin for us this weekend. It was a medley of three songs and it filled the church with some great music. We also installed the Call Committee. Thank you to Mark Fornwall, Renee Romerdahl, Eric Pilotin, Barbra Rudow, David Stoltzfus & Holly Pendergast. You have a great task ahead of you but we all know you will do great. Last but not least we had The Great Peanut Butter Bake Off. All of the choices were delicious. Thank you to those who participated. We now have all the peanut butter jars we need for VBS.

This Sunday featured a few different things happening. We welcomed Bobbie Jo Curley who is subbing for Beth Wills while she is on vacation, 4-Given had their last song until the fall, the praise band was there for the 5th Sunday of the month, and Steve and Billie Moksnes celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary before returning to Montana for the Summer.
